Putaputaweta are a great wetland revegetation plant as they create shelter for other species as they grow. Once mature they produce fruit which are very attractive to  birds . The "marble" like leaves and the unique tangled growth pattern of the putaputaweta make for an impressive garden feature tree. Bunches of white flowers are striking amongst the gren foliage.
